Ashley Ruiz How I feel Seen

In my series, How I feel Seen, I focus on taking a series of portrait photographs of my friends. These portraits are paired with close-up details of them and the clothes I asked them to bring. I chose clothes as a background for their portraits as I find that all my friends have a very distinct style ever since I met them. I posed the question of whether they dress the way they do in order to feel more comfortable with themselves and to be seen by others a certain way or just to be seen at all. As part of the work I asked my friends two questions: first, when do they feel most seen and second, if the way they dress helps them feel it any more or less. While I asked these questions and made conversation with them I was able to capture their photograph, which explains their self and also their emotions as I asked my questions.
